My skincare routine changes from season to season. Although I have combination to oily skin, I sometimes feel it very dry, especially in the winter, so I like to use a rich cream to give extra moisture to my face.
For spring and summer, I prefer lighter options. I am in my mid-thirties now, and my skincare routine evolves year by year. As we get older, our skin needs extra attention and care and before I hit thirty, I didn't even think about using anti-ageing products but now I use lots of them to fight any wrinkles or fine lines.
So let's see the steps:
1. I always, always wash my face in the morning. Before I did that, I thought that because at night I washed my face, toned and moisturised it, it would be clean in the morning, but I was wrong. While we sleep, oils gather around our face and we might get dirt from our pillow, our hair, our mattress etc. So now I wash my face using a gentle wash gel to remove any residues and I usually prefer to rinse with cold water, as it wakes my skin up (and me!). I am currently using the Declare Cleansing Gel, a mild gel that removes even waterproof makeup and the Clean & Clear Morning Energy Daily Facial Scrub.
2. Then, I use a light toner to balance my skin after wash, but if I don't have time and I am in a hurry, I skip this part. Toning is essential as it replenishes the surface of the skin immediately after washing. I use Nivea Pure & Natural Cleansing Toner, Jason Super-C Toner (here) and Rose of Bulgaria Natural Rose Water.
3. I use a serum to give my skin extra hydration and then I use a BB Cream to get a light coverage. The serum I am currently using is the Loreal Skin Perfection Serum.
I prefer using a BB Cream in the morning instead of foundation, because a foundation is sometimes heavy for my face and my skin gets super oily during the day, so I prefer going with a lighter option. Also, a BB Cream will provide moisture to my face, SPF, anti-ageing ingredients and a light coverage. Now, I am using the Garnier BB Cream in light shade or the Garnier Miracle Skin Cream (here) that also gives some coverage to the face without overdoing it.
4. After using my BB Cream I usually do a light makeup for the day. I use a liquid eyeliner or a soft pencil liner, a volumizing mascara to define my lashes and now in spring I love using a soft pink lipstick. I also like to use a pink blush on my cheeks and maybe some highlighter.
